Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (5 videos)

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith appeared tonight on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, making the first appearance of a current (or any?) Doctor on a US talk show.

First, here’s the intro to the episode:

Before the Doctor was in the house, Chris Hardwick (the Nerdist) stopped by, decked out in a fourth Doctor scarf knit by Tara Wheeler. Below you can see Chris & Craig geeking out and talking Doctor Who:

And then the moment we all were waiting for, Matt Smith on the Late Late Show:

A Dalek Appears on Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson – Video & Photos

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

A 2005-style (bronze) Dalek appeared on tonight’s episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson — I found out about it literally 10 minutes before the episode started thanks to Twitter and was able to set my DVR to record it in time.

I took several screen shots which I’ll post below, but first here is a video of the opening for the show, which featured Craig waxing enthusiastic about the Daleks:

And below I’ve posted a quick gallery of screen grabs, including Craig hugging the Dalek, playing with its eye stalk, plunger & gun, and even guest Dennis Miller touching a Dalek bump:

Video: Sutekh the Parakeet Quotes Doctor Who

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

It’s been ages since I’ve had a chance to update the site so I thought I’d just add a quick post with a short video of my parakeet Sutekh The Destroyer, named after the classic Doctor Who villain of the same name from Pyramids of Mars.

Being the silly geek that I am, when I got him a few years ago I thought to myself “what’s the most ridiculous thing I could name a parakeet?” — given parakeets are small, harmless & friendly animals I figured the exact opposite would be an ancient and powerful god of evil, and so immediately thought of Sutekh from Pyramids.

3 Preview Clips From Doctor Who: Victory of the Daleks

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

At the end of last week’s episode, the Beast Below, the Doctor gets a call on the new TARDIS phone from a certain historical Prime Minsiter of Britian, who needs the Doctor’s help.

Since then, the BBC has released 3 teaser clips from Victory of the Daleks, the first Dalek story to feature the eleventh Doctor (but I imagine not the last).

In this clip, the Doctor introduces Amy Pond to Winston Churchill who apparently has known the Doctor (and coveted the TARDIS) for some time.

Third New Clip From Doctor Who: The Eleventh Hour

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Shown on CBBC at 11:30 GMT – not half an hour ago – got to love the speed of the Internet.

This brand new clip features the newly regenerated eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond (presumably no relation to the duck pond in the clip) debating whether the pond in question can really be a duck pond even if it never has ducks.

The two are interrupted as the Doctor clutches his chest as he seems to be having some kind of physical problem with the regeneration (which we know from The Christmas Invasion can take fifteen hours to “set”).

Obsessive Doctor Who Fan Partially Converts Daughter into a Cyberman

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

OK, it’s not as bad as it sounds. I found this very funny article which seems to prove that at least *some* school administrators have a sense of humor in these days of overreactions and overzealous protection against theortecical physical or psychological harm.

It seems a Doctor Who fan asked his daughter if she’d like to pose in her kindergarten photo wearing a Cyberman voice changing helmet which she was fond of (despite not being old enough to watch the show yet).

New Doctor Who Series Trailer & Clips From Jonathan Ross Show

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Matt Smith appeared today on the Jonathan Ross show in the UK. For those of us who missed the broadcast (or who, like me, couldn’t see it due to a pesky ocean being in the way) I’m collecting the clips here.

First off we have a new version of the Doctor Who series 5 trailer (or series 31, or “series fnarg” as some people are calling it). This is substantially similar to the second BBC trailer I posted a few days ago, but has a slightly different voiceover and a few new bits of footage for us to pause and geek over.

Doctor Who: First Minute of The Eleventh Hour Coming to BBC Site

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

The official BBC website has been updated with a new look to go with the new Doctor and series. With the premiere of the first episode, The Eleventh Hour, set to materialize on Saturday, April 3rd, the Beeb has promised us a taste to whet our appetites for the full story.

This Saturday, March 27th, the first minute of The Eleventh Hour will “air” on the BBC site. Unfortunately, I assume it will be region locked to the UK only as usual, so the American and other overseas audience will be left out as usual.

Video – BBC America Doctor Who Series 5 Trailer

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

BBC America has started airing their own trailer for the new series of Doctor Who, featuring Matt Smith as the eleventh Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond. This new trailer includes new footage not seen in the recently released BBC trailer, so more freeze-frame fun for us fans to over analyze the footage to tide us over until the series begins in April.

From the voice over:

“The Universe is vast and complicated. Sometimes, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.

All of time and space… Everything that ever happened or ever will… Where do you want to start?”

Video: Steven Moffat Talks New Doctor Who Series & Matt Smith

Friday, March 19th, 2010

New Doctor Who series producer Steven Moffat had a chat with the folks on BBC Breakfast this morning about the new series and has a few words to say to calm the fears of fans who are worried the new Doctor can’t be as good as the old one.

Moffat also talks about some of the returning monsters we’ll see this series, including the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels, and confirms the long-standing rumor that the reptilians you see in the first trailer are indeed the Silurians.
